Friday’s Gratitude – Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
…being built up in Him
…established in your faith
…overflowing with gratitude.
(from Col. 2.7)
I’ve been thinking recently about the advancements in medicine we’ve enjoyed in recent times. The growth is truly exponential and we are the potential beneficiaries of all we now know. Granted, there are lines we dare not cross; stem cell research at the cost of an unborn life, for example, but it really does amaze me.
So today I’m thankful that God allows us to study His creation, including the human body and the intricate systems He designed for it (yes, I said “designed”), and intervene when things go wrong, all without relinquishing His title or role as The Great Physician.
I could easily go into great and boring detail about examples in my own family of lungs and hearts, of pins and screws, of thyroids, backs and stomachs, the intracacies of the brain and various –ectomies, even re-attaching severed nerves. But you’ve examples all your own.
So instead I’ll encourage you to take your foot off the gas for a minute or two, consider the marvels of the body God designed and assigned to you, and thank Him for allowing us to learn what we have thus far. Join me in thanking God for giving us permission to participate in life and health – while maintaining His title —one of many— of Great Physician.
David said it better than I could ever:
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
